After hearing about ALL we do in strength class and what typical strongman events look like... wouldn’t it be fun if you could compete in a strongman competition :)
Well, if you said yes, you are in luck because we are hosting a strongman competition at CrossFit Kingfield! The competition will be on Saturday, August 11th from 9 A.M. to roughly 4 P.M. The deadline to register is Monday, August 6th.
Here's the deal: If you would like to compete, you will need two males and two females, which means it's a TEAM COMPETITION! Now, let’s get into the good stuff!
There will be three events throughout the day on Saturday, starting with a deadlift event, followed by a sandbag race, then capped off by a relay race event. Here's the workouts:
Each team will have three minutes to complete as many deadlifts as they can within that time. There is a twist. There are five weights that both males and females can choose from.
Men’s Weight: 225# (1 pt.), 275# (2 pts.), 315# (3 pts.), 365# (4 pts.), 405# (5 pts.)
Women’s Weight: 155# (1 pt.), 185# (2 pts.), 215# (3 pts.), 245# (4 pts.), 275# (5 pts.)
*Conventional deadlift only
*Only doubles will count towards score
*You and your partner may use the same weight or change weight throughout the AMRAP but you must alternate double reps.
A 50 ft. sandbag race that involves loading a sandbag onto a box.
Men’s weight: 150, 180, 200, 220, 250.
Women’s weight: 155, 185, 215, 245, 275.
Height of boxes: 60”, 54”, 48”, 42”, 36”.
*Each athlete must carry a sandbag 50 ft. then load the sandbag onto the box.
*Once partner 1 is done, partner 2 will do the same, with the same sandbag. If one partner does not complete a carry, the other partner may finish but there will be a penalty added to your overall score.
PUSH/PULL + CARRY RELAY RACE
Farmer Carry + Sled Pull+Sled Push + Front Rack Yoke Carry+Back Rack Yoke Carry
100ft Farmer Carry (must drop at 50ft mark and turn around) *75% BW on each handle
50ft Sled Pull+50ft Sled Push back to start line *100% BW on sled
50ft Front Rack Yoke Carry + 50ft Back Rack Yoke Carry *75% BW on yoke
*Partner 1 will start with the farmer carry, once they are done with the farmer carry, they will move onto the sled pull and push station (athletes may use any method they want to pull the sled). Once the sled has reached the 50ft mark, the athlete will push the sled back to the start position.
*The final station will involve the yoke. Partner 1 will start with a 50ft front rack carry. When they reach 50ft, they will drop the yoke, turn around, and get reset with the yoke on their back.
*Each partner will go through each station one time.
This will be the first strongman competition CrossFit Kingfield had hosted and we are very excited to have you guys participate! If you are interested in the competition but do want to participate, you may volunteer for set up, judging, and/or clean up. I am very excited to see you guys move heavy things and have a good time!
