Check Your Engine: Evaluate Your Current Position - Part 3

Here’s the scenario: you’re going on a trip. You know where you want to go, you have planned your route. You’ve even packed your road snacks and you’ve decided where you’re going to stop to sleep while on your way. You jump in your car, turn the key and “E” flashes on your dash - and the “check engine” light is on.

You’re going places next year. You’ve decided on your and you’re mapping the route to get there. Now, it’s time to check your engine. In this installment of our blog series, we are asking you to take an honest assessment of yourself and your greater environment. When was the last time you had an oil change - just WHAT is that sound when you turn on the AC? Car analogies aside - what are you working with as you prepare for change in 2016?

Over the past week we’ve been asking you to do some digging as you prepare for our Goal Setting Workshop this Saturday, December 12th. Last week, you visualized success and decided which unique characteristics make it real for you. Now, as you formulate your blueprint for change, you’ll need to understand exactly where you sit today.

You will need to take a hard look at those ideas and consider them against the people and structures that support your success.  Conversely, you’ll need to also look at those things that will prevent you from reaching your goals.

What is your internal conversation like - positive or negative self-talk? How do the people closest to you behave - do you want to be more like them or would they fall away if you were putting yourself first? Does your environment encourage you to be your best self or does it interfere? Evaluating these things items is important to so you can plan to maneuver accordingly while on your path.

In essence, this blog is here to serve as a “check engine” light. Will you ignore it or will you whip out the manual or ask your handy friend for help? We accomplish two things when we evaluate ourselves: we gain knowledge about ourselves and our situation, our now, and we ensure that our destination, our change, is realistic. Afterall, you can’t drive your car to China.

Today our conversation is short so spend time looking inside yourself and outside at your greater support network - get totally real with where you sit today, so we can have a powerfully effective goal setting session with you on Saturday. By doing so, we can better support you in your mission in the new year to become #KingfieldStrong.

*The Kingfield Goal Setting Workshop will be at 10:30 AM (after morning class) THIS Saturday, December 12th. We hope to see you there!
