WHY DO YOU DO CROSSFIT?

Simply put, CrossFit just works for me. Let me count the ways: 1. Lifting heavy is so fun (most of the time) and also completely badass! 2. Cardio is the devil's work and CrossFit WODs trick my brain into forgetting about the fact that I'm doing cardio because I'm focusing on my form, or my strategy, or counting (so much counting). 3. The community becomes a part of your life and holds you accountable. 4. With CrossFit, you stop obsessing about getting "skinny" or how many calories you're burning. Instead, you truly focus on how strong your body can get and how proficient you can become at the movements. 5. There's always the promise of possibility. It never goes away with CrossFit. As someone who gets bored of things fairly easily, I appreciate that there is ALWAYS something (okay, a lot things) in CrossFit that I can improve upon. My numbers, my times, my technique. 6. There is no other hour long class out there that I have tried that is so effective and efficient at keeping me fit, motivated and interested long term. Trust me, I've tried a lot of them.

You miss your fitfam when you don’t see them on the regular. Plus, gravity is a bitch and booties don’t stay perky on their own.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOU?

Besides the obvious physical effects (oh hey there muscles), CrossFit changes your mindset about a lot of things. There are plenty of things in life that you don't want to do. Whether it's 3 loads of laundry or taking the stairs up 5 flights to get to your car. The CrossFit mentality kind of bleeds over into those other areas and reminds you that all you have to do is start, put in the work, and then time passes and you're done.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK?

Honestly the community is my biggest driving force - and we have an exceptional one at Kingfield. You miss your fitfam when you don't see them on the regular. Plus, gravity is a bitch and booties don't stay perky on their own.

DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT? IF SO, DO YOU MIND SHARING IT?

Not so much a motto. There are plenty of days that I don't want to go class, I don't want to workout, but I know that I just need to show up. If you show up, you have to do the work. An hour passes and then, bam, you're done! You did it! So on those days (and they are plentiful) when I just don't want to, I just make myself show up.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVEMENT OR WORKOUT?

Snatching and overhead squats.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

Who can pick a favorite? Seriously.

WHAT'S YOUR POWER SONG?

My power song hasn't yet found me.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WE DON'T ALREADY KNOW.

I can flip my eyelids inside out. It's useful for scaring small children and revolting adults.

WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL?

Octopus. The reasons are many. They have 4 hearts. They are extraordinarily malleable to their surroundings. They are curious and get bored easily. They confuse their predators with clouds of ink and then disappear like some sort of god damned magician.
