WHY DO YOU DO CROSSFIT?

It challenges me everyday. Not only physically, but mentally as well. I found Crossfit at a turning point in my life. To be able to let everything go at the door and just focus on putting in hard work, is what got me hooked. I have an athletic background and while CrossFit initially helped fill that void, I have found so much more than that. My friends are all part of this community and even my mom! Yes, my mother has joined a CrossFit gym and she just bought her first pair of Nike Metcons. That alone makes me so happy and another reason why I CrossFit - anyone can do it!

CrossFit reminds me of a quote from the movie Fight Club. The quote is, ‘Because of Fight Club, everything else in my day just seemed easier.’ That’s how I look at CrossFit

HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOU?

Crossfit reminds me of a quote from the movie Fight Club. The quote is: "Because of Fight Club everything else in my day just seemed easier." Thats how I look at Crossfit. I have fallen in love with training instead of just playing sports, and it has given me a community that loves fitness and pushes me and everyone else outside their comfort zone. It has also opened me up as a person. It's allowed me to have confidence and be vulnerable and be ok with failing.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK?

Of course, seeing improvements on my lifting numbers or workout times, but also being able to spend time with my friends. The community - hearing their PR's or improvements - is what motivate me to come back.

DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT? IF SO, DO YOU MIND SHARING IT?

Breathe. I have a tendency to hold my breath a lot during workouts. I'm sure there are some swear words that I say in my head, just for the most part its just, "keep going, keep moving."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?

I am going to cheat here. My favorite movements are anything body weight. But, I have to admit, I am starting to go the dark side and really enjoy Olympic Weightlifting. I have come a long way on heavy lifting, and it continues to surprise me what a little self-confidence can do. As for favorite workout, they are all terrible, in a good way.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

I have a HUGE sweet tooth. So chocolate is high on the list. But definitely pizza.

WHAT'S YOUR POWER SONG?

I don't think I have a specific power song- I like all different kinds of music. But for the gym, whatever it is, I like it loud so I can't hear myself slowly dying from a workout.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT WE DON'T ALREADY KNOW.

Most people know this already, but I am deaf in my left ear.

WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL?

An otter (sea or river). They have learned to let life be and they glide through the emotional ups and down of life effortlessly, on their backs, floating. Also, they are most active in the spring and summer and so am I.
