A bit about: Jesse Brown

WHY DO YOU DO CROSSFIT?

The simple answer is that I have a lot of fun doing it. Long answer is that I love challenging myself and CrossFit does exactly that - it challenges my physically, mentally and emotionally. I guess I have always been curious to see what my limits are. Each workout gives me an opportunity to get closer to figuring out what that is. Additionally, CrossFit has really helped me be more confident in myself - in and outside of the gym. Lastly, the community at Kingfield is amazing - motivating and knowledgeable coaches, fun and supportive members and an awesome environment.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOU?

CrossFit has opened my eyes to a whole new way of building my fitness. In the short amount of time I've been doing CrossFit, I feel stronger, more athletic and feel that I can learn new movements more quickly. Emotionally, CrossFit has improved my self-confidence and challenged me to prioritize my fitness more than ever.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK?

It's fun. I really enjoy the process of getting better - even if it's only little bits at a time. The coaches help so much with that. I feel like every time I'm at the gym, I learn something from the coaches about how to improve a movement or how to "game plan" for a workout. On top of it being fun, I know that the programming is helping me to become stronger and more fit.

DO YOU HAVE A MOTTO? SOMETHING YOU TELL YOURSELF WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH A WORKOUT? IF SO, DO YOU MIND SHARING IT?

It's probably something simple like, "keep moving" or "you're going to be fine." But I think the main thing that I remind myself is that I just want to be proud of the work I put in - I don't want to leave the gym feeling like I gave half effort. That is one of the main values I try to teach the young men / lacrosse athletes I coach everyday.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT OR MOVEMENT?

The snatch because it is so dynamic and looks super cool.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

Burgers, bacon and pretzel M&M's.
